Charlie’s Heart Foundation was established in 2017 to honor the life and legacy of Charlie Holt. Our goal is to create a world where all families, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the support they need to stay healthy and whole. We provide grants to nonprofit organizations based in the Carolinas with programs designed to support the mental and emotional well-being of families in under-resourced communities. Since our founding, we have awarded nearly $1 million to over 20 nonprofits and helped 100s of children and families.
We envision a world where no family is torn apart by tragedy and where all families, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the support they need to stay healthy and whole.
Our mission is to fund holistic programs that promote the mental well-being of vulnerable families.
Theory of Change
We believe that strong and healthy families →lead to strong and healthy children→which leads to strong and healthy communities.
The problems that threaten the health of families, particularly in under-resourced communities, are complex and interconnected. Parents and caregivers must be emotionally and mentally healthy to persevere through tragedy and break the toxic cycles that destroy the family structure and pass generational trauma to its members. We believe that by addressing the mental well-being of family members, specifically parents, and caregivers, we will give these families the strong foundation that they need not only to survive but to thrive.
We believe that healthy families lead to healthy communities.
We believe that we can do more when we work together with authenticity, transparency, and trust.
We know that we don’t have all the answers, but we are dedicated to learning all that we can to address the root issues facing vulnerable families in our communities.
We are committed to responsibly stewarding our resources to create a better future for families.
Our Three-Year Strategic Plan
We believe the key to real and lasting impact requires narrowing our focus and fine-tuning our strategy. Our three-year plan outlines how we will achieve greater impact and a more sustainable operational structure. All while keeping Charlie and his legacy of love and acceptance at the center of everything we do.
