KinderMourn
KinderMourn Bereavement Support
Since 1978, KinderMourn has provided hope for bereaved parents, grieving children, and teens by offering support and counseling programs, creating awareness of bereavement issues, and empowering the community to effectively assist those who have suffered the unthinkable loss of a loved one.
By creating an environment of healing through connection and belonging, KinderMourn reframes the grief experience for families through direct, grief‐focused mental health services, including individual counseling, group sessions, and play therapy. Their staff, facilitators, and volunteers provide an environment where families find help, hope, and healing after their loss.
KinderMourn serves all those who are grieving, and no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay. Grieving children served range from preschool to 18+ years of age. And all bereaved parents, regardless of the cause of death or age of the child, are served. Last year, through groups and counseling sessions, KinderMourn provided support and comfort to more than 4,000 bereaved parents and grieving children.
The 3-year Partnership Grant from Charlie’s Heart Foundation will allow KinderMourn to provide additional school-based support groups for children and youth who are unable to access KinderMourn’s in-house support. It will also support programming and scholarships to ensure that all grieving parents, children, and teens in need of KinderMourn services, have access to the support they need to heal.
